USCG Documentation Expires – What You Must Do?

In today’s fast-paced world, we tend to miss a lot of things. It could be your partner’s birthday or parents’ anniversary. With so many things to remember, you may forget to renew your boat’s annual USCG documentation. Renewing boat documentation is vital so you can use the ship on the water legally. But if you miss its renewal, don’t worry. You can still remedy it.

Renewal within 30 days

You can renew your documentation online through our portal. But you need to pay the late fee on top of the documentation charge. It’s not a big deal. However, if you the expiration is more than 30 days, you need to file a reinstatement form. It’s more expensive. But after paying the late reinstatement fees, you can have your documentation within two to four weeks.

What if you’re selling your boat?

No matter what your reason is for the sale of your boat, you need to find out whether or not your vessel’s documentation hasn’t expired yet. But what if you have an expired documentation? Don’t worry. USCG processes documentation transfer even though its validity lapsed. You don’t have to pay extra fees to reinstate your documentation before transferring it. Any person who tells you that is only trying to defraud you. If you need further details about it, you may wish to visit Coast Guard’s office website: www.uscg.mil. Now, if you receive an email offering you to process your transfer of documentation with an exorbitant fee, don’t believe it. It’s especially true if the sender’s address doesn’t end in .mil. USA Vessel Documentation Center doesn’t send emails that encourage clients to use our portals for an additional fee.

How to process reinstatement online?

You can apply for reinstatement online by filling out a form from USVESSELDOCUMENTATION.center website. One of the requirements is to submit your vessel name. Then, you must state whether you own this vessel, purchase it from another owner or it was just built. Ensure that you submit the boat’s official number or hull ID if there’s any. You should also submit the boat’s International Maritime Organization Number (IMO). If you need any help in processing your vessel documentation, please contact us through email submissions@usvesseldocumentation.center or call us 800-340-7580. Apart from reinstatement, we also process other USCG documentation related services. Please feel free to browse our site.
