Have you ever been in a sailboat race? It can be thrilling, frustrating, crushing, and exhilarating – all in a manner of a few seconds. As the race is so dependent upon factors that no person can control, (such as the wind, the waves, weather, and more), sometimes the courses have to be altered. What would have been a lengthy course, for example, may have to be shortened, due to a lack of wind. When circumstances change, you have to alter course. The same is true with vessel documentation. At our site, we have forms, such as the USCG documentation transfer form and others, for when your life changes.
USCG Documentation Transfer – for Changing Owners
Maybe you bought a vessel on your own, and then, as time passes, you want to bring on additional owners. Or, alternatively, perhaps you bought a vessel with someone else, and you come to understand that it’s time for you to move on to something else. Vessel ownership changes often. When it does, this form can help you (as well as the other party) to make sure that you’re always in compliance with the Coast Guard.
Change of Address / Hailing Port
Did you move since you bought your vessel? Or, alternatively, did you stay in the same home, but moved your vessel to another port? You might read this and think: “why does it matter to the Coast Guard where I live?” The truth is that they need to know that, for sending you the updates about your vessel documentation renewal and more. Should you have moved where your boat stays or where you stay, this form will keep you in compliance. We know that it’s not exactly fun to fill out these forms, so we’ve made it as easy as possible to do so at our site.
Changing Your Endorsement
When you document your vessel and pick an endorsement, it doesn’t have to stay that way forever. Maybe you got a Fishery endorsement, only to find that after a while, the fishing wasn’t as great as you might have hoped. What could be lucrative, however, is transporting people. So, you could change your “Fishery” endorsement to a “Coastwise” one. Or, alternatively, perhaps you found you aren’t cut out for transporting people to and from the navigable waters of the US and the EEZ. But, you’ve struck gold in foreign trade. So, then you can change your endorsement to “Registry.” We can help you with all of this and more.
The Forms for Your Boat
So many of the changes we make in life can give us a “fresh start.” For it to be truly “fresh,” however, it has to be free from worry. When you update these forms, when you’re fully in compliance with your vessel documentation, it’s one less thing for you to worry about. At our site, US Vessel Documentation you can find the forms you need, and then fill them out quickly and easily.
