Has the time come for you to document your vessel for the first time and you’re feeling a little unsure about the process? Do you feel that documenting your boat is the right course of action yet you’re still reticent to do so? If you’ve never documented a vessel before, it’s perfectly natural to be a little uncertain about the process. Indeed, that’s one of the major reasons we created our site: to help vessel owners through the documentation process, whether this is their first documented vessel or their hundredth.
Are you Eligible to Have your Boat Documented?
Before you go to fill out the forms, you want to be 100% certain that your vessel can be documented. For one, be certain that you (or the owner) are a citizen of the United States. Additionally, you want to make sure that your vessel measures as much as five net tons. You’ll note we used the word “measures” and not the word “weighs.” That’s because “net tons” is a measurement of volume and not of weight. Thus, a good rule to follow is: if your vessel measures more than 25 feet in length, it almost invariably measures five net tons.
Documenting Your Boat in Two Steps
To document your vessel, all you have to do is: go to our site, click in “Initial,” and fill out the form. That’s it. If you have all of the information you need in front of you/at your fingertips, you could conceivably fill this form out in the same amount of time it took you to read to this part of this blog (or even less). We know that few want to spend their free time filling out vessel documentation, so we wanted to streamline and expedite the process as much as possible.
Renewing Your Documentation for Years (in Just One Step)
Once you’ve documented your vessel, of course, you have to do so every single year, should you want to maintain your Certificate of Registration. At our site, we offer another option: you can choose to document your vessel for up to five years in advance. That way, you don’t have to worry about renewal deadlines, getting it in on time, or any of that for (quite literally) years to come. Rush processing is, in many cases, available too – that way, you can choose to go to the very top of our queue.
Vessel Documentation for Vessel Owners
We know that, when it comes to vessel documentation, it’s natural to feel like there really isn’t anyone “on your side.” We aim to change that. A good way to think of our site: like a tax accountant, just for your vessel documentation. At our site, you can determine which forms of documentation are right for your vessel, and then you can find all of the forms that you’ll need, too. To see everything that we have to offer, just head to our site.
